Old Crow Medicine Show

Old Crow Medicine Show is the most well-known Americana string group based in Tennessee, Nashville, that has been recording since. They were admitted to the Grand Ole Opry on the 17th of September 2013. The group’s ninth studio album Remedy that was out in 2014 was awarded an award called the Grammy Award for Best Folk Album. The band’s music has been described as old-time, folk or alternative country. In addition to traditional songs, this group sings a number of pre-World-War blues and folk songs from the Second World War.

Bluegrass musician Doc Watson discovered the band as its members were selling their goods outside the pharmacy within Boone, North Carolina, in 2000. It has an old-time-style string sound that is fueled by the punk rock vibe, it has influenced bands such as Mumford & Sons and contributed to the revival of banjo-picking string groups playing Americana music. This led to variations of the genre.

The Band group released their 6th studio album, Volunteer, through Columbia Nashville on April 20, 2018 — coinciding with their 20th anniversary as a group. They released 50 Years of Blonde Blonde on April 28, 2017 (their first album on Columbia Nashville). Previous studio albums were Eutaw (2002) O.C.M.S. (2004), Big Iron World (2006), Tennessee Pusher (2008), Carry Me Back (2012), and Remedy (2014) and Volunteer (2017). Their song “Wagon Wheel”, a more or less traditional song written by frontman Ketch Secor through a co-authoring arrangement with Bob Dylan, was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America in April 2013Template: Certification Cite Ref and has been covered by a number of acts, including Darius Rucker, who made the song a top 40 hit.
