Hallelujah Song Lyrics

Hallelujah Chords, Verse

C                           Am
I heard there was a secret chord
          C                               Am
That David played and it pleased the lord
          F                         G                      C           G
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
                C                            F               G
Well it goes like this the fourth, the fifth
           Am                         F
The minor fall and the major lift
         G                   E7                   Am
The baffled king composing hallelujah

Hallelujah Lyrics, Chorus

F              Am                F           C       G    C       G
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu-u-u-u-jah

Hallelujah Chords, Verse

C                                        Am
Well your faith was strong but you needed proof
          C                       Am
You saw her bathing on the roof
        F                         G                    C                    G
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
C                               F               G
She tied you to her kitchen chair
          Am                                     F
She broke your throne and she cut your hair
         G                              E7               Am
And from your lips she drew the hallelujah

Hallelujah Lyrics, Chorus

F              Am                F           C       G    C       G
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu-u-u-u-jah

Hallelujah Chords, Verse

C                         Am
Baby I’ve been here before
          C                                       Am
I’ve seen this room and I’ve walked this floor
      F                   G                     C              G
I used to live alone before I knew you
C                                               F         G
I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
        Am                               F
But love is not a victory march
            G                       E7          Am
It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah Lyrics, Chorus

      F              Am                F           C       G    C       G
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu-u-u-u-jah

Hallelujah Chords, Verse

      C                                              Am
Well there was a time when you let me know
               C                 Am
What’s really going on below
         F                         G                        C           G
But now you never show that to me do you
                C                         F            G
But remember when I moved in you
                Am                       F
And the holy dove was moving too
            G                       E7                 Am
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah Lyrics, Chorus

       F              Am                F           C       G    C       G
Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelu-u-u-u-jah

Hallelujah Chords, Verse

      C                      Am
Well, maybe there’s a god above
        C                     Am
But all I’ve ever learned from love
           F                          G                     C                 G
Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew you
                  C                    F           G
It’s not a cry that you hear at night
      Am                                 F
It’s not somebody who’s seen the light
           G                        E7           Am
It’s a cold and it’s a broken hallelujah

Jeff Buckley

Jeff Buckley was an American musician and singer who had a fortune that was $4 million. Jeff Buckley was born in Orange, California in November 1966, and died at the age of 59 in 1997. He was a sessions guitarist from Los Angeles for almost a decade prior to releasing his debut album Grace that reached the top spot in Australia which is where it was recognized as 7x platinum. The album ranked 5th according to the US Heatseekers chart and was certified Gold in the US. Buckley has also recorded five live albums and his first album. Mystery White Boy reached the Top 10 in Australia, Belgium, France, and the UK.

The song that Jeff is most famous for “Hallelujah”, written by Leonard Cohen, was released as one of the tracks on his 1994 album “Grace”.

Buckley was the only one son born to Mary Guibert and Tim Buckley. The mother of Buckley was Zonian with multi-ethnic Greek, French, and Panamanian heritage, and Tim Buckley was his father’s father of an Irish American father and an Italian American mother. Buckley had a home with his stepfather and mother, Ron Moorhead, in Southern California, and had one half-brother who was Corey Moorhead. Buckley has moved several times around the area of Orange County while growing up as a result of an upbringing Buckley was referred to as “rootless trailer trash”. When he was a kid, Buckley was known as Scott “Scottie” Moorhead based on his middle name as well as his stepfather’s surname.

He was born to a father named Tim Buckley, who was an acclaimed singer-songwriter, who released an array of jazz and folk albums in the latter part of the 1960s and the 1970s. He also was, according to him, only had one time, aged eight. After his father’s death of a poisoning overdose around 1975, the singer opted to be known as Buckley and his real name, which was listed on the birth certificate of his father. To his family members, the name was “Scottie”.

Buckley was raised around music. His mother was an accomplished classically trained cellist and pianist. He was introduced by his stepfather Led Zeppelin, Queen, Jimi Hendrix, the Who along with Pink Floyd at an early age.

The night of May 29th 1997, Jeff Buckley was in Memphis, Tennessee, while waiting for the arrival of his bandmates to complete work on his second album, Buckley decided to go for a swim along the Mississippi River. When a boat passed by, Buckley got caught up in the wake of the boat. After the river receded the body didn’t get back up.

It wasn’t until the 4th of June just six days after the passengers of the American Queen riverboat found his body.

A post-mortem examination revealed that there was no evidence of drugs nor alcohol present in his body. which ruled out any reason to believe the was a suicide.
