R.E.M.

Everybody Hurts Guitar Chords

R.E.M. an American rock group, is the ultimate college rock group of the 1980s. The band’s members included lead singer Michael Stipe (b. January 4 1960 in Decatur, Georgia, U.S.), guitarist Peter Buck (b. December 6 1956 in Berkeley, California) as well as the bassist Mike Mills (b. December 17 1958, Orange, California) along with drummer Bill Berry (b. July 31st in 1958, Duluth, Minnesota).

R.E.M. named for a condition called dream-state (rapid eye movements) began in the year 1981 at Athens, Georgia, a college town that lies 65 miles (105 km) northeast of Atlanta which was already known for its local pop scene at when R.E.M. released Chronic Town in 1982, their debut extended-play album. Stipe is fascinated by his own personal passions and dislikes as well as his own personal demons, was a rounded singer who wrapped vague words in soothing, soothing cadences and Buck who had a broader perception of rock as a guitarist, was attracted to the fun of music and new ideas. they were at the same record store in which Buck was employed as well as Stipe went shopping. Their group had a more melodic sound than previous groups from Athens like Pylon but never so sly like the B-52’s. R.E.M. responded only to themselves.

R.E.M. taught the next generation of American rockers to be precise and vague while being a bit ambiguous. through the juxtaposition of evocative words for poetic collages they engaged viewers in the development of meanings for their songs. The group was active in the 1990s, producing ballad albums like Automatic for the People (1992) as well as louder, more rowdier collections like Monster (1994).

Accelerate was R.E.M.’s top-charting album in the years since New Adventures in Hi-Fi, and the band backed the album with a world-wide tour. The group returned to studio to record Collapse into Now (2011) the album that combines simple rock, power pop and acoustic ballads in an audio palette unifying by Buck’s outstanding guitar work. In September 2011, following more than thirty years at the leading edge of rock music The group members from R.E.M. announced the break-up of the band.
